Social Science Research Institute

The Social Science Research Institute (SSRI) conducts and supports interdisciplinary, applied research that addresses critical social, behavioral, economic, and environmental problems, primarily in Hawaiʻi and the Asia Pacific region. As the sponsored research division of the College of Social Sciences, SSRI also provides administrative support for pre and post-award activities related to extramural research and training grants.


Grant Administration: SSRI provides a comprehensive array of extramural support services to faculty, from identifying funding sources to proposal development and initiating travel requests. This “life cycle” approach to grant-making activities includes grant development services, workshops and training, research services, compliance review, fiscal and administrative support, and assisting principal investigators in managing awards.
